Lay Z Spa has built the St Moritz as a bigger and better version of the Lay Z Spa Palm Springs, as one of the largest Inflatable Hot Tubs. The St Moritz is 15cm wider and 2cm higher than the Lay Z Spa Monaco, measuring 216cm in diameter and 71cm in height. However, because to thicker sidewalls, the St Moritz has a lower water capacity of 1190L. This can be considered as an advantage, as many people find the Lay Z Spa Monaco’s dropstitch material to be less comfortable than other models’ Tri-Tech material. The Lay Z Spa St Moritz has ample space to provide for every event, whether you share it as a couple, with friends for parties, or even on your lonesome.
Similar to earlier versions, Lay Z Spa has created another durable and sturdy Inflatable Hot Tub by combining Tri-tech material with I-beam structure. Lay Z Spa’s Tri-tech material is one of the most durable and comfortable fabrics available for Inflatable Hot Tubs. It is made up of a polyester mesh with a layer of reinforced PVC on either side.
The Rattan-style liner, which has been developed from some of Bestway’s popular Pool designs, is unique to the Lay Z Spa St Moritz Inflatable Hot Tub. The wicker-like look is a nice change from the regular Lay Z Spa liner and makes this Inflatable Hot Tub one-of-a-kind.
The Lay Z Spa St Moritz boasts the most Airjets of any of its competitors in the Lay Z Spa Hot Tub line, with 140. The Airjets assist relax your joints by releasing pressure from them, as well as drop your blood pressure, giving your body a pleasant sense.
The Lay Z Spa St Moritz uses the same pump system as other Lay Z Spa Airjet models to heat your water to a delightful 40oC – the perfect temperature for relaxing and soothing your muscles! The energy-saving timer allows you to maintain the temperature of your Inflatable Hot Tub throughout the day. Your pump turns off once that temperature is reached, then turns back on when the temperature dips too low, saving you money on energy bills! The ‘fast heating mechanism,’ which still functions at 1.5-2.0oC per hour, is the pump’s only drawback; depending on the temperature of your water upon filling, you could be waiting a long time!
Unfortunately, like with all Inflatable Hot Tubs, you cannot leave your pump unit outside in temperatures below 4oC when it is not heating, since the water inside the pump may freeze, expand, and cause damage to the internal parts. It is not waterproof – simply splash-proof, like the other Lay Z Spa pumps – so you’ll have to keep it covered in strong rain.
In conclusion, the Lay Z Spa Saint Moritz boasts the most Airjets for Inflatable Hot Tubs of comparable size, a robust and sturdy frame, and it looks AMAZING! The main drawback is the long time it takes to heat up due to the high water capacity, however this can be easily remedied by filling your Hot Tub with warm water and using the energy-saving timer!

Is an inflatable hot tub a worthwhile investment?
To begin with, how much does it cost? In terms of money, you’ll pay more for the fitted tub than you will for an inflatable right away. The inflatable tub, on the other hand, will have lower ongoing costs. Why? You save time by not having to change the water as often. You don’t have to heat new water every time you use it. Rather, you put the water in, bring it up to temperature, and then never let it cool completely until the next winter.
On the one hand, the fitted tub will cost more to install, and you will pay more in electricity over time. Putting it in, on the other hand, will raise the value of your home. The inflatable, on the other hand, is a different storey. On the other hand, if you do decide to move home with the inflatable, it is small enough to pack up and transport. It also doesn’t cost as much to run in the long run.
However, there is a drawback when it comes to freezing temperatures: any outdoor hot tub must be stored for the winter to avoid freezing. Fitted outdoor tubs feature an inbuilt switch that keeps the tub flowing to prevent freezing – or even an enclosure that successfully protects them from the elements.
Is it worthwhile to invest in an inflatable hot tub? It’s worth more than a fitted tub, in our opinion. It is less expensive to set up and operate than a fitted tub. Even if it takes 12 hours to heat the water once your tub has been filled, this is still a week faster than waiting for your fitted hot tub to heat up… There’s also a lot less rubble to deal with.
Finally, is the inflatable hot tub comparable to the real thing? That is entirely dependent on the model you purchase. You can expect standard features whether you choose an everyday value or budget model. However, if you spend a little extra and get a mid-range inflatable hot tub, you’ll have a lot more amenities to play with.

Cons of the St Moritz inflatable hot tub:
- It’s exceptionally heavy when filled so isn’t really suitable for ordinary flooring without reinforcement – although it is suitable for indoor use.
- It needs at least 7 metres squared of space to account for airflow.
- It isn’t fun to clean a hot tub. It’s less fun to have no hot tub to clean.
As you can see, the good points of the St Moritz inflatable hot tub from Lay-Z-Spa far outweigh the bad.
What comes in the St Moritz Box?
Let’s start from the beginning and go through each item as it arrives. Expect your hot tub to arrive in 8-10 business days after you place your order. When it arrives, each item will be individually wrapped in a box. It is recommended that you transport it to the location where you will keep it before inflating it, as it is difficult to move once it has been inflated.
When you order a hot tub, the following items should be included in the box.
The liners
The outside liner features a wooden weaving look known as a rattan pattern, as we discussed earlier. This results in an attractive finish that blends in well with practically any environment. The outside liner is made of Lay-Z-touch Spa’s TriTech 3 ply fabric, which is a Lay-Z-Spa patent. This material is also used for the inner liner, although it is more cushioned for a more pleasant inner tub.
The liners are tough, but that doesn’t mean you should assume they’ll last forever. Before placing your hot tub on top of the ground, we always recommend putting some soft foam cushioning, a ground sheet, or another protective covering. This provides extra padding and increases the longevity of your investment.
The Lids
Lay-Z-Spa has a habit of adding two lids in their packages. The first is an insulated lid that seals in the heat. It’s inflatable, just like the rest of the hot tub, and it’ll keep dirt out when you get out to fill up your wine glass. The second cover is constructed of a leatheroid material that protects the tub better when it is stored for prolonged periods of time. Four clasps on the sides will secure the lid on top of the hot tub. This cover should be worn whenever your hot tub is not in use to keep debris, animals, and even children out.
The Floater
Nicer than you think, the floater is the Chem Connect system that disperses the chlorine and therefore keeps your hot tub safe and bacteria free. If you order a hot tub, we suggest that you purchase chlorine tablets in advance of its arrival. However, some models of Lay-Z-Spa come with chlorine to get you started, some don’t . We aren’t sure if the St Moritz is one or the other, so we would recommend you stock up in advance.
Chem connect is another lay-z-spa patented piece of technology. It floats around the hot tub and does its job. All you have to do is top it up once in a while.
The Filter Cartridge
All hot tubs have filters in them. This is where the water passes through before it hits the air pump, to make sure there isn’t any debris in it that might block the filter. Your new hot tub should come with at least one of these in the pack. A new packet of three costs about ten pounds. You should wash the filter every time you use your hot tub to make it last longer, and replace it every two months or so.
The Air Pump System
The air pump for the St Moritz inflatable hot tub is brown to match that outer liner rattan pattern. It has the digital control panel on top of it, since this is the distance farthest from the water and therefore the best place for electronics.
The St Moritz comes with 140 airjets, all of which operate when you connect the liners to the pump and activate it. The hot tub is inflated by the air pump, so there’s less manual labour for you!
The Air Protector Pad
The St Moritz inflatable hot tub comes with an air protector pad that you can use to place your hot tub on top of. This gives it extra protection against the earth underneath, allowing for greater durability to your hot tub. It makes the ground beneath you fell better cushioned, too.
Instructional DVD
Just in case you are confused over the setup process, there is an instructional DVD included with your purchase. You can also find plenty of information online if you get stuck.
The aim of the package that includes the St Moritz hot tub for your home, is that it has everything in it that you need to get setup and started. You should be able to plug it in, fill it up, leave it to heat, and be in the hot tub, enjoying the fruits of your labour, within 12 hours tops.

Our rates for its different aspects
Comfortableness 4/5
With up to 140 different massaging airjets working together at any one time, you had better hope it’s a comfortable hot tub! Thankfully, Lay Z Spa doesn’t disappoint in this regard. It’s very easy to get the tub up to the ideal temperature, and it has just enough water capacity to comfortably house seven grown adults. It’s therefore likely to have enough water for a small party of sorts. The bubbles get going very quickly, and it’s one of the most intensively relaxing soaks you’ll have in a hot tub of this price.
Running Costs 4/5
We’ll give this one a four, simply because you can expect there to still be some charges to clear after only a short time. The timer system and pump are likely to cause a bit of cost here and there, but the fact you can ask your tub to come on at a certain time is surely going to save you money. Compare this with systems where you’d normally need to spend hours on end pumping and heating things up, and you’re onto a winner. However, do be aware that there is, of course, perhaps more of a cost to pay upfront than elsewhere. In our collective opinion, it’s more than worth it.
Heat Up Times 5/5
What can we say? Customer reviews and ratings don’t disagree with the marketing, either. The Lay Z Spa St Mo is one of the speediest-heating hot tub systems on the market, even at the price. It’s hard to believe that there are systems out there still trying to compete with warmth that takes hours on end to get up to speed. Choose a hot tub with a smart pump and a heating system that isn’t going to take all day to leap into action.
Noisiness 3/5
This is something that some people complain about when it comes to Lay Z Spa, and we do have to agree to an extent. The air jets in place, as there are so many of them, can kick out a noise. This is something you can get used to pretty easily, though, and if you’ve been in a jacuzzi before, you’ll probably not notice much difference. Don’t let it eat away at your comfort – once you’re in, you’ll be glad for the tub to make as much noise as it likes.
Winter Usage 4/5
This Lay Z Spa should work well all year round, but unlike other hot tubs from the brand, it may need a little closer maintenance. There are other systems from this company which offer more in the way of freeze protection, meaning there is zero chance of your tub packing up in the colder months. That technology appears to be lacking here, though we think you’ll still be able to enjoy the bubbles from season to season. Just keep an eye on the pump and crank up the temperature whenever you need to.
Price 5/5
We think the current RRP for this Lay Z Spa is fantastic. It is very competitive with other models in similar lines, particualrly as it is super-quick to heat up and to start giving you the comfort you deserve. If it is worth putting a few hundred pounds behind good quality hot tubs, it makes sense to look for a Lay Z Spa. It may be a little more than you will expect to pay in budget lines, but when it comes to this kind of technology, you will really get what you pay for. In this case, that’s spectacular temperature control and a system that massages you from all angles.
A bit about Bestway and Lay-Z-Spa
The lay-z-spa company is a division of the much bigger Bestway firm. Bestway specialises on leisure activities and outdoor equipment, whereas Lay-Z-Spa specialises in inflatable hot tubs. Bestway has four different branches, thus Lay-z-Spa is merely one arm of a gigantic machine.
The Bestway brand debuted in the mid-1990s, while the Lay-Z-Spa brand didn’t debut until the early 2000s. Since then, they’ve been in charge of thoroughly investigating all of the new technology that has resulted. One of their aircraft is the airjet. Another feature is the rapid heating mechanism, as well as the typical inner and outer liner combination that allows their product to circulate air throughout the tub.
Surprisingly, Lay-Z-Spa was one of the first inflatable hot tub producers to achieve dual functionality. They were present at the beginnings of the heating + bubbles revolution, which began only a decade ago. For a company with nearly three decades of experience, we expect to see a lot more in the future.
One of the best aspects of this company is that they offer hot tubs in a variety of price ranges. They have a high end and a cheap end model for two people to ten people. They adapt to your budget and then offer a variety of extras so you may add to your investment over time. It’s a one-time investment that you may keep developing… Not to mention the two-year warranty you get when you register with them on their website.
The Bonus Tip – Hot Tubs with Lids On Heat Faster
Always leave your hot tub lids on while you are heating the water. This allows you to get more for your money, save on energy, and get into your new tub to enjoy it – faster!

FAQs about Inflatable Hot Tubs
In this section, we have tried to answer some of the most commonly asked questions we get about this model of Lay-Z-Spa hot tub. Have a read through and, if you still need help, feel free to get in touch.
Q) Do I have to turn the bubbles off to turn the heat on in my inflatable hot tub?
- A) Only in certain models. Generally speaking, a mid-range hot tub or above will have dual operation/dual function. A dual operation hot tub provides you with heat and bubbles simultaneously. The St Moritz, from Lay-Z-Spa, has dual operation. Other models that carry this feature include the Saint Tropez, the Cancun, and other models you can find on our site.
Q) Does an inflatable hot tub come with a ground sheet to protect it from damage?
- A) Not all inflatable hot tubs come with a ground sheet. However, the St Moritz has an inflatable air pad protector that you place underneath your hot tub. This stops it being damaged by any rocks or debris on the ground. It has the added bonus of making your base even more cushioned, so that you feel that you are walking on air… because you literally are.
